Secret #3- Mastering the skill of getting invited

Okay, you’ve now infiltrated these secret societies where musicians gather, what do you do now? This is where 99% of people completely drop the ball. Most people jump into these communities with no consideration whatsoever about the way that they treat the others that are already there.

Often times people go into these communities and shoot from the hip and either get scolded or shunned by the others because they spam the crap out of the community while trying to get attention for their band.

Spend about 5 minutes in these communities and see what I’m talking about. Roll up your sleeves and put on some waders because the crap gets really deep around here. After awhile you’ll find that you don’t want to connect with a lot of these people. And if you’re one of the ones who is doing the spamming people aren’t going to want to connect with you either. If you shoot straight and are considerate of others, slowly but surely your name is going to appear on the list of “the good guys”. Very important for you because you will now be in a position where people like to see you around and view you as someone that’s pretty cool.

However, there are a lot of pretty cool people in the world, so what makes you so special.? What do you have to contribute? Why should you been invited into the inner circle?

Well… this is the real trick isn’t it?

The one, surefire, never fails tactic to getting invited is to have some unique position that others find to be valuable. This is where your ability to observe and react is going to be of ultra importance.

When you can get yourself into position to selflessly be of service to others, you will always be invited. Why because you are valuable. Make sense? So the secret here is to pay attention to what the buzz in the community is all about and get to the bottom of it in the name of service to others. This never fails.

But, doesn’t that put you in direct competition with others in the community? Yes it does. But you need to start looking at competition as a good thing. Why? Because competition brings out the best in you and also exposes the worst or weakness in others. Which leads us to secret #4…

Secret #4- How to destroy your competition by exploiting their every weakness.

Now this might sound a little harsh, however you’ll soon find that this is for the greater good of everyone. And it works like this…
If you can stay vigilant and aware of what goes on within these communities, you’ll start to notice what things are being done that are attractive and what things are viewed as being unattractive.

When you can make this distinction between the two then you will be in a powerful position to take advantage of attractive trends and see exactly where your competition has dropped the ball. When you can find the weakness in others you can:

A) use it against them for your own benefit and
B) turn them into an ally by helping them fix the problem.

Think about, how cool is the person that comes up to you at a party and discreetly whispers, “Dude, your fly is open!”?
We’ve all heard of this happening in real life so it’s a great example. I mean you’re doing someone else a real solid by showing them the holes in their game, while you quietly demonstrate that your game is completely solid.

When others see how solid your game is, then any and all competition will just fade away.

Besides, what this comes down to is your individuality as a person. No one can compete with that. There is only one you, so you need to be the best you possible and make sure that others can take notice. When they can you will magically be lifted above all of the other noise that stands in the way of people ever taking notice of you and competing for your potential band mate’s attention. As time goes by people will begin to trust and expect this type of behavior from you and will be more inclined to take you word, advice or ideas more seriously that some of the others who just don’t get it!

When you can discover how to accomplish this, no one will be able to effectively compete with you and your efforts will stand on their own. And now that you’ve put yourself into a position of power it’s time for secret number 5…
