Now for the last 7 days I’ve taken you through my “7 Secrets To Rockstar Recruiting” series where I’ve explained the things you’ll need to do to increase your results when trying to connect with musicians for you band or whatever musical project you’re working on.

I wanted to create this video to show you the proof that what I’ve shared with you works.

What you are looking at right now is a report from my contact management system where I keep a list of musicians that have shown an interest in learning more about myself and my band.

On January 7th, 2010 I placed one ad and from that ad here is the list of people who responded.

As you can see, there were 16 people in about a 24 hour period, who gave me their contact information. And while 16 people might not seem to be a huge number, let me tell you a few facts about these people:

  1. They are all musicians
  2. They were all looking to start a band
  3. They all raised their hand and voluntarily made an attempt to connect with me without me having to chase any of them.
  4. They all came from the same place
  5. They are just a small percentage of the actual number of musicians who clicked my ad and visited my website.

Allow me to explain…

I mentioned in my 7 Secrets Series that it’s important that you weed out posers before you ever audition them. I also mentioned that I do this systematically and that I leverage technology to this for me automatically.

The first step in weeding out posers is to see if they even click my ad. If they don’t I already know that they aren’t the type of person that I even want in my band. How? Because of the message that I posted in my ad.

Now the next step is to see if they click the link in my ad to come and visit my website. Taking action is a huge part of what I look for in potential band mates. However the simple action of clicking a link isn’t quite enough.

When they get to my site, again there is a message that serves the purpose of qualifying people. Those who aren’t qualified will not take the next action, which is to volunteer their contact information to me.

As you can see, in a 24 hour period, 16 people have taken that action and shown me that they are qualified for my time. I don’t know how many musicians read my ad, but the actual number of visitors was 45, so you can see that 29 posers weeded themselves out automatically.

Here’s the best part:

I never wrote a musicians wanted ad…
I never wrote a musician available ad…
I never read or responded to any of their ads…
AND I never once mentioned my band!

The most exciting part is that this list gets bigger everyday with NO additional effort on my part.

Like I mentioned all of these musicians came from one source responding to one ad.

I have several sources that I can use but for this purpose I wanted to demonstrate the power of just one source.

So tell me, do you still think that 16 people in 24 hours is small number? When you consider that these musicians are all serious and qualified for my time AND that they came from the same place, you can only imagine how many musicians I could have on this list.
You see the magic here is not so much in the automation as it is in the message that I sent out to the world.

The automation just makes sure that I don’t waste time on unqualified people. This means that I never audition poser, fakes, phonies or prima donnas.

As you can see, as after a week’s time, this number has more than doubled!

Let me ask, you…

If I were to invite all of them to an audition, how many of them do you think I could audition in one weekend?
The answer is just about ALL of them.

Do you think that in this group I might be able to find at least one who is a good fit for my band? The answer is YES! If not, like I said, this list gets bigger everyday and I have several sources to tap into other than the one that yielded these results.

What this means for you is that with one simple message you could attract an ever-growing stream of musicians that are qualified for your time. By the end of one week you will have found at least one person who is a good fit for your band.
